Mel Constantine Miseo
Executive Director

Dr. Mel Constantine Miseo became The Center Project's first Executive Director in July 2026, but their relationship with the organization started 10 years prior. After moving to Columbia from New York for graduate school in 2015, Mel became involved with the organization as an Open Hours volunteer. They cleaned, organized, and welcomed guests. For 6 years, Mel led TCP's youth programming where their passion for supporting young LGBTQIA+ people flourished. During that time, Mel conducted their doctoral research with parents of transgender children in Missouri, where they helped parents navigate their children's mental health, losing their access to healthcare, safety and belonging in schools, lack of acceptance from extended family, and so much more.
Dr. Mel Constantine Miseo holds a PhD in Sociology, and enjoys being by the water, arts & crafts, and hanging out with their cat, Bagel.
