Seth Showalter, a native of a small town in Northwest Missouri, has an impressive educational background. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2011, followed by a master’s degree in Social Work from Missouri State University in 2013, and later, a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Webster University in 2018. In January 2012, shortly after completing his undergraduate studies, Seth experienced the deeply traumatic ordeal of gay conversion therapy at a substance use treatment facility, an experience that left lasting scars. This harrowing chapter of his life inspired him to write a memoir, “Finally Free: A Surrender to Authenticity,” which delves into the profound impact of the experience and the trauma he endured. Determined to make a difference, Seth pursued a career as a therapist, eventually establishing his own private practice, Authentic Therapy, in Columbia, MO. His practice is dedicated to providing a supportive and affirming space for the LGBTQIA+ community. Seth specializes in addressing issues related to relationships, self-esteem, and religious trauma, drawing from his own experiences to help others heal.
